We were amazed at the number of wildflowers beginning to bloom there. We met a volunteer who enthusiastically pointed out the Goldflower, Sky Pilot, Alpine Avens, Alpine Phlox and Snowball Saxifrage. We showed her our book, Rocky Mountain Wildflowers Field Guide that included. He taught fly-fishing-related courses in Calgary for over 20 years, and his photographs and writings on the subject have appeared in a number of outdoor magazines. Neil has previously written several volumes published by Rocky Mountain Books dealing with wildflowers in western Canada, fly fishing, and hiking venues in southern Alberta.
Different plant communities characterize each zone (such as foothill, montane, subalpine, and alpine) from the base of a mountain to the top, and each zone may contain several types of plant communities.
